It so happens that lately there is very little that can be stated with certainty, but one thing that is not in doubt is that the Earth and the Moon continue to orbit the Sun, and that the summer solstice will soon arrive again. From the Sun’s perspective this is irrelevant, but for people on Earth it remains, knowingly or not, an absorbing concern.

W Brzask knows little more than anyone else, but senses there is nothing left to do but to attempt, in good faith and somewhat blindly, to perform this annual rite. And although it gives nothing away, like other devoted followers it waits in tension for the day to come, when it will finally meet the invited musical guests in person — those who have agreed to sing and play various instruments, supporting this fragile, sometimes daring ritual.
